Cultivate Contentment Life Coaching Workshops
- How much of the time are you contented with your life?
- What do you do that undermine your contentment?
- How can you cultivate ongoing contentment?
If you would like to make a conscious commitment to being more contented and at peace with your life — Johanna Maheshvari Mosca, Ph.D., would be happy to lead you and your group in an uplifting workshop. Sharing the techniques in her book Cultivate Contentment: Using Ancient Wisdom to Thrive in Today’s World, Johanna can lead your group in an inquiry to identify what undermines your contentment and what can be done about it. She will teach the ten principles for well-being from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and introduce you to her original technique called the 4 D’s for Clearing Upsets. One of Maheshvari’s fondest sayings is that we need to be like “self-cleaning ovens.” She will teach you to recognize when you need “self-cleaning” and show you how to apply the 4 D’s to: (1) Distinguish and feel what’s off; (2) Detatch from it to gain some distance; (3) Dip it in Forgiveness, Gratitude, and Humor; and (4) Design and feel the presence of what you desire instead. Not only will you get a self-cleaning, it may truly lighten you up with a lasting smile!
YogaLife: 10 Steps to Freedom
Living the Yoga Principles for Peace and Stretching to Deepen Relationships
- Would you like to learn five ancient principles for getting along in harmony with others?
- Would you like to know five principles for making yourself the best person you can be?
- Would you like to expand into deeper yoga stretches with a partner assisting you?
This is the perfect workshop for any organization, family, team, club or workspace because it is a Human Resource workshop. Johanna first elicits from the group what members think are the five things to keep in mind for maintaining harmony with others and what five things they think are most important for them to develop to succeed in life. After this rich discussion, Johanna teaches the five principles for getting along well with others and has partners discuss the one they would like to focus on. Then there is a break with guided partner poses that Johanna has adapted from her Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy training. Johanna then teaches the five personal growth principles and has the same partners discuss one that they would like to work on a bit more. After partner sharing, Johanna elicits sharing from the entire group, followed by partners doing the same assisted poses with roles switched. The workshop ends with the full class invited to share something that they are taking home from the day’s teaching.

Experience the 7 Stages of Relaxation included in Yoga Nidra (Nidra=Deep Relaxation as in Sleep)
Based on the writing and teachings of Richard Miller, Maheshvari (Johanna Mosca, PhD) will lead a workshop discussion to give an understanding of how Yoga Nidra guides participants to experience seven stages or sheaths of relaxation. Having completed Yoga Nidra Teacher Trainings I and II with Richard Miller, Maheshvari has been trained to share the various stages so that you will both understand how they work, experience the deepening relaxation in your own body and being, and be inspired to apply Yoga Nidra to your life and teaching. Join Johanna Maheshvari as she guides you through your awareness of — sensation; breath and energy; feelings and emotions; thoughts, beliefs and images; desire, pleasure and joy; witness or ego-I observing — to the awareness of the changeless Divine Being you are. No experience required. This i-Rest works well with individuals as well as with groups. It can be done in comfortable seated position or with participants lying on their backs on the floor in deep relaxation pose. Participants report feeling refreshed and en-lightened.
Note: “Nidra” means “sleep,” and Yoga Nidra is a deep relaxation technique that is successfully being used to treat PTSD in the military, victims of abuse, pain management, daily stress, and insomnia. www.irest.us

About Johanna Maheshvari Mosca, Ph.D.
My vision for myself and my students is to make life a moving meditation in which we cultivate ongoing peace and contentment. I have published three books related to living the wisdom of Yoga—YogaLife: 10 Steps to Freedom; Cultivate Contentment: Using Ancient Wisdom to Thrive in Today’s World; and most recently, Teen Triumph: 10 Ways to a Winning Life. Starting in the 1990’s, I have completed numerous trainings with two 200-hour certifications in Kripalu Yoga and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Then I earned my 500 hours with the International Yoga College, studying mainly with Rama Jyoti Vernon. I followed that with two weeks in India, studying with TVK Desikachar and his son Kaustub at the Krishnamacharya Mandarim. In recent years, my focus on learning techniques to still the babbling mind has led me to complete two meditation teacher trainings, first 200-hours with the McLean Meditation Institute. Then I went on to pursue my current passion, studying I-Rest (Inner Restoration) Meditation with Richard Miller, and completing his teacher trainings I and II. As a former “teacher specialist” for the NYC Public Schools, I have experience meeting my students at their own level and helping them stretch to the next stage of growth, whatever that might be for each individual. I feel honored and grateful when other beings trust me to guide them in Yoga and consciousness expanding reflection on the spiritual path.
My experience at Johanna’s Yoga Sutra’s workshop was phenomenal. She is a wonderful teacher who speaks from such delightful expertise that we can fully relate to her teaching. She is a vibrant and energetic individual who knows how to reach her students. It was a great pleasure to finally meet her in January after having read her book “Yoga Life,” as a spiritual part of Yoga Teacher Training, at Inner Strength Yoga.
Johanna is an awesome teacher. She does more than the (sutra) fundamentals. She explains them so it is logical, easy to remember, and practical with a balance of comprehensive details to get the big picture. She won’t let you forget what you learned so you can apply it to your every-day life long after the class is over. It is a great pleasure to be her student.
Johanna, you are a wonderful, loving soul who has so much wisdom and clarity to offer to anyone willing to listen! You taught me that yoga is FAR more than poses, but really is a way of life that can lead to a more peaceful, loving and fulfilling existence. I am so grateful to have met you!
Johanna definitely walks her talk. She has dedicated her life to living a spiritual path and shares her wisdom and experience humbly, with a sense of humor. Her kind heart encourages students to look within and discover their own beauty and freedom. I feel blessed to have studied with Johanna several times over the past few years and continue to benefit from reading/listening to her gifts, the books YogaLife and Cultivate Contentment.
