Artie Looking Hawk, in front of his sweat lodge
Join Artie Looking Hawk for a Native American ceremony in the sweat lodge he built beside the sacred Indian ruins at Sugarloaf Mountain in Cornville (25 minutes outside Sedona). Prepare for the lodge by exploring whatever it is you would like to release in the lodge and what you would like to pray to bring forth. Bless the earth and all of its creations as you reverently enter the lodge. For each of four rounds, hot lava rocks are brought in by the fire keeper, as Artie Looking Hawk pours water over the rocks and leads the guests in prayer and song. You exit totally cleansed, your prayers heard by the Great Spirit. There is an opportunity to take a dip in the creek. Then Artie Looking Hawk leads a sacred pipe ceremony and shares a family feast with friends and guests.
(DONATIONS: The sweat lodge & feast take about 3.5-4 hours. Since the Native American sweat lodges are held as sacred ceremonies,
they are offered on a donation basis. If you would like to attend a lodge we can check on the schedule for Artie Looking Hawk, Yellowbird of ICA or other sweat lodge leaders. If they agree to lead a lodge on your behalf, it would be appropriate to give a generous donation. it is also customary to bring a gift of tobacco to the lodge. Please note that this sweat lodge is NOT a Sedona Spirit Yoga function and Sedona Spirit Yoga and its leaders take no responsibility for what happens in any sweat lodge. A sweat lodge is a community event offered by several private agents in Sedona. The sweat lodge is open to all to on a donation basis.)
